STCW Basic Fire Prevention & Firefighting

Two-day fire prevention and firefighting module, which is instructed in compliance to STCW 95 Code A – VI/1-2 including shipboard firefighting organisation, the elements of fire and explosion, types of ignition, fire and smoke detection, breathing apparatus use and automatic alarm system familiarisation. Trainees will fight and extinguish actual fires using personal equipment, practical instruction taught by licensed and certified firefighting professionals. It takes two days to complete and is followed by an exam.
 From 1 January 2017, the STCW Survival and Fire Fighting Certificates will only be valid for 5 years. This means anyone who attended one of these courses before 1 January 2012 will need to do a refresher course before the end of 2016.
