This 3-day MCA approved H.E.L.M. Human Element, Leadership & Management (Operational) course is designed to meet the mandatory requirements for training in the human element, leadership and management at the operational level as set out in Regulations II and III of the International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers (STCW). It provides students with awareness and understanding of the key human factors influencing effective resource management.
You will acquire and develop tools and practical skills to enhance their maritime resource management capability. This training is a pre-requisite for a first Certificate of Competency (CoC) issued by the MCA meeting the requirements of Regulation II/1, III/1 and III/6.
Our 3 day course is interactive, fun and engaging incorporating group activities whilst generating awareness of the significance of the Human Element within the safe operation of ships and vessels.
Masters & Officers are vessels are now examined not only on their knowledge but also their proficiency and overall competence. As per STCW, competence can be defined as Knowledge, Behaviours & Skills. MCA Oral Examinations are, to an extent, also a Risk Assessment of YOU.
This course can, and should, prove to be extremely valuable and of benefit to those seeking good leadership & management skills and wanting to understand more about the Human Element and performance. Despite the stigma that is too often attached to this course in the industry, we are confident you’ll enjoy it and find it to be very beneficial. This course is not a ‘tick box’ exercise.
